Revision: Neville Goddard’s Approach

Revision: Neville Goddard’s Approach

Neville Goddard’s technique of revision offers a practical way to reframe, forgive, forget or heal past events and promote a new vision for ourselves. Envision and imagine, a different starting point, by revision.

A Trauma Healing Revision Meditation

A Practical Overview

Revision allows us to revisit past events and modify them to match our desired outcomes. It’s about choosing the emotional and mental responses we want to carry forward, similar to editing a story to have a happier ending.

“If, for instance, you had gone to an interview for a job you truly wanted but later learned that someone else was hired, you can revise that news to make it conform to what you wish you had heard.”

– Neville Goddard

How to Use Revision

  1. Identify a Situation: NOTICE what you are imagining / thinking. Either about a past event or something that is happing right now, that has left you with negative feelings.
  2. Relive / Revise the Event: Take a moment to name and distance yourself from the thoughts and feelings, and mentally revisit the event, but as an observer. Push the event or thoughts away (imagine them pushed away from you)
  3. Rewrite the Script: Picture the event unfolding in a way that aligns perfectly with your desires. See and feel the joy, success, or positive emotions , give vivid colors, and bring this close to you (See it come towards you). Identify with this.
  4. Embed the New Memory: Practice this revised version more than once, run it through a few times in your mind. Allow the positive emotions associated with the new version to become a part of you.

Practical Example

Let’s say you had a job interview that didn’t go well, leaving you feeling discouraged. With revision, you can replay the interview in your mind, but this time, visualize confidently answering each question. Picture the interviewers impressed with your responses, and feel the confidence within you growing. (A typical Neville example, career and promotions were some of his most comon stories, but you can apply it towards anything you like)

Why would you EVEN bother with this?

By embracing revision, we take charge of your narrative, otherwise your limbic systems survival brain leads your narrative without your consent.

“If you react by feeling depressed or assume any other negative attitude, you will then experience the same type of rejection in the future.”

-Neville Goddard

We revise our past (or present) to create a new neural pathway, and to reinforce the frontal lobe connetion to our CHOSEN narratives.

When we engage in revision, we’re not altering the actual events of the past, but rather transforming our interpretation and emotional response to those events. You change your REACTION to the past. This, in turn, affects how we perceive and act in the present moment, which is the appointed hour. Now is where we have the power to shape our thoughts, emotions, and our reality.

What should you expect from your revision?

“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control”

– Galatians

If it is not a changed past, then what should you expect? There is a saying, “The proof is in the pudding”, or as it is phrased in the Bible: “By their fruits shall you know them”:

You Will Know Them by Their Fruits:

“Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves.  You will know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes from thornbushes or figs from thistles?  Even so, every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit.  A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a bad tree bear good fruit.  Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire.  Therefore by their fruits you will know them.

Matthew 7:15-20

In our case, it is our thoughts that are “the fasle prohpets“, the thoughts come to us, appearing as truth. The fruits of those thoughts are the fruits of fear, victimhood, anger or insecurity etc. So know that your revision is complete when your thoughts become those of love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control.

Imagine that the negativity was cut down and thrown into the fire, and can no longer produce its bad fruit, the fruits of fear, victimhood, anger or insecurity. With this tree cut down, your tree of good fruit grows, and develops. This opens your eyes to goodnes, opportunities, strenghts and joy.

Mental Health and the Law of Assumption: A Delicate Balance

The delicate balance between addressing mental health conditions like OCD, anxiety, and delusions while navigating the Law of Assumption/Attraction with care and mindfulness:

Mental Health and the Law of Assumption: A Delicate Balance

Mental health conditions, such as OCD, deep anxiety, obsession, phobias and delusions, can present profound challenges in daily life. The intricate nature of these conditions often leads individuals to seek various avenues for relief and healing. One such path is the Law of Assumption (or Attraction.) Manifesting desires by assuming their fulfillment seems like an easy way out of the painful intrusive thoughts, but in reality it can cause even more pain and confusion for some. While a powerful tool, its application in the realm of mental health requires delicate consideration and understanding.

The Human Nature to Avoid Accountability

As humans, it is innate to seek ways to alleviate our fears and anxieties. The Law of Assumption/Attraction offers an attractive prospect by allowing us to manifest positive outcomes, circumventing our fears and worries. However, for individuals grappling with conditions like OCD and anxiety, it’s crucial to tread carefully. The desire to escape the clutches of their condition can inadvertently lead to bypassing the necessary steps towards healing and understanding.

The Path to Healing: Understanding Mental Health Conditions

The journey towards healing mental health conditions begins with acknowledgment and acceptance. Mostly self-acceptance, which is something that I have talked a lot about in my podcast. Weekly therapy appointments using methods such as Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Therapy and Dialectical Behavior (CBT)T or medication if prescribed, and participation in support groups offer essential foundations. These actions create a safety net, providing individuals with tools to understand their condition and cope effectively. Without this foundation, LAO may just be another delusion or obsession, creating worsening symptoms.

The Role of Law of Assumption/Attraction

Law of Assumption/Attraction, when introduced into the healing journey, should be approached with caution. Initially, it’s vital to maintain a lighthearted approach to manifesting desires. Overwhelming or intense manifestation attempts can inadvertently trigger anxiety and exacerbate the mental health condition. Individuals with OCD, especially, tend to approach LOA as a life or death situation. This is counterproductive.

The Importance of Light-hearted Manifestation

Choosing a light-hearted approach to manifestation involves infusing positivity, playfulness, and gentleness into the process. The focus should be on joy, gratitude, and hopeful anticipation, keeping manifestations within a comforting, safe space.

Avoiding Spiritual Bypassing

One must guard against spiritual bypassing, a tendency to use spiritual beliefs and practices to bypass or avoid facing the true depths of their mental health condition. A premature leap into intense manifesting can inadvertently become an escape from dealing with the underlying fears and anxieties.

Finding the Right Balance

The key lies in striking the right balance. Begin by focusing on understanding and managing the mental health condition effectively. Once a stable and well-maintained state is achieved, gentle exploration of the Law of Assumption/Attraction can take place.

Breaking the Cycle of Self-Imposed Pain

Awareness of the dual nature of manifestation allows us to break free from patterns that cause self-inflicted pain.

Closing Thoughts

This post has been created with the observation that just as many individuals cause themselves pain, as pleasure, using the Law of Assumption. Until an awareness of compulsions, phobias, delusions or intrusive thoughts has been established, LOA tends to be a roller coaster ride of emotional ups and downs. Understanding and addressing mental health conditions is a journey that demands patience, compassion, and self-awareness. The Law of Assumption/Attraction IS s transformative tool, when approached mindfully and in harmony with the individual’s mental well-being. Remember to always aim for a lighthearted manifestation approach, and to avoiding spiritual bypassing.

The Art of Manifesting Total Losers: A Tongue-in-Cheek Guide

The Art of Manifesting Total Losers: A Tongue-in-Cheek Guide

Introduction:

So, you’ve decided to try your hand at manifesting, huh? Well, forget about attracting success, abundance, or happiness! Let’s take a cheeky detour and explore the art of manifesting total losers. Because, why not? After all, life is all about balance, and sometimes, attracting a complete and utter mess into your life can be oddly satisfying. Buckle up, folks! This guide will show you how to manifest that special someone who’s a true champion of chaos.

1. Embrace Your Inner Chaos Conductor:

To manifest a total loser, you’ve got to embrace your inner chaos conductor. Throw out all those positive affirmations and replace them with self-sabotaging thoughts. Tell yourself that you’re destined for failure, and watch the magic unfold!

2. Focus on All the Wrong Things:

Forget about setting meaningful goals or working towards self-improvement. Instead, obsess over trivial matters and let your life revolve around drama and gossip. Remember, attracting a total loser requires a laser focus on all the wrong things.

3. Embody the Energy of Desperation:

The key to manifesting a total loser lies in desperation. Act like you can’t survive without them, even if they bring nothing but chaos and drama. Cling onto their every word and ignore all red flags.

4. Run from Self-Love and Acceptance:

To manifest a total loser, self-love and acceptance must be banished from your life. Be your own worst critic, constantly compare yourself to others, and let imposter syndrome reign supreme.

5. Seek Validation from External Sources:

Don’t waste your time seeking internal validation; go all out for external validation. Rely on others to determine your worth and let their opinions dictate your every move.

6. Attract Drama with Drama:

They say like attracts like, so it’s time to unleash the drama queen within you. Stir up conflicts, overreact to the smallest issues, and watch how drama magnetically draws in your total loser.

7. Set Unrealistic Expectations:

To manifest a total loser, set the bar impossibly high for others while having low expectations for yourself. After all, nothing says “loser magnet” like being unreasonably demanding.

8. Ignore All Warning Signs:

Red flags? What red flags? Turn a blind eye to any signs of trouble and convince yourself that everything will magically work out. Denial is your best friend!

9. Put Others on a Pedestal:

Idealize the person you want to attract, placing them on a pedestal while ignoring their flaws and toxic traits. Because, who needs a healthy dose of reality anyway?

10. Believe You Don’t Deserve Better:

Above all, believe that you don’t deserve better. Tell yourself that a total loser is the best you can do, and settling for less is the way to go.

Conclusion:

So there you have it – the ultimate guide to manifesting a total loser. Remember, life is all about balance, and sometimes, embracing a little chaos can be oddly entertaining. However, as you’ve probably guessed, this blog post is all in good fun. In reality, I encourage you to focus on attracting positivity, growth, and healthy relationships into your life. Manifest wisely and remember that you deserve the best, not the worst! Happy manifesting, or should we say, happy unmanifesting of total losers!

Are you ready for a soulmate partner instead?

The TRUE Power of Gratitude

Gratitude serves as the key that unlocks the door to a world of conscious manifestation. By understanding and embracing the art of receptivity and gratitude, we open ourselves to the flow of abundance that surrounds us. Just as tuning a radio to a specific frequency allows us to catch a particular station, gratitude tunes our hearts to the frequency of positivity and blessings, attracting more of the same into our lives.

Within the pages of this enlightening book, we come to understand that we are manifesting machines, constantly co-creating our reality through our desires and aversions, knowingly or unknowingly. The energy we emit through our thoughts and emotions acts as a powerful magnet, drawing in similar frequencies from the cosmos. Gratitude becomes the guiding light that aligns us with the divine flow of life, allowing us to wait patiently for the fullness and maximum results of our manifestations, rather than rushing impulsively.

Brainspotting and consiousness

Exploring Brainspotting and Consciousness

Brainspotting (BSP) is a talk therapy that reveals a client’s unprocessed traumas through fixed eye positions.

BSP therapy is based largely on modified methods from other therapies:

  • Somatic Experiencing (SE)
  • Eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR)
  • Acupuncture (but without needles)

Together, these work to diagnose and treat potential roots of your trauma

Understanding Brainspotting

Brainspotting (BSP) is a powerful therapeutic approach that unveils unprocessed traumas by pinpointing fixed eye positions. These specific eye positions are associated with “brainspots,” which are regions of the mind that harbor thoughts and emotions. By focusing on these troubling brainspots, individuals can delve into their hidden mental challenges.

Drawing from techniques of various therapies, including Somatic Experiencing (SE), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), and even elements of acupuncture (without needles), BSP therapy delves into the potential roots of trauma. It’s a way to diagnose and treat the sources of your trauma, a journey often best undertaken with guidance and support.

Specific eye positions each link to their own “brainspot,” an area of the mind that retains thoughts and emotions. Clients fixate on troubling brainspots to uncover hidden mental challenges.

Connecting Brainspotting with Consciousness

Our eyes serve as conduits to our consciousness. BSP capitalizes on this natural connection by utilizing relevant eye positions. This aids BSP therapists in locating, focusing, processing, and ultimately releasing a wide spectrum of emotional and bodily conditions.

Who Can Benefit from Brainspotting?

BSP taps into the body’s innate ability to scan and heal itself. Stimulating a brainspot seems to trigger a signal from the deep brain to the therapist, signifying the discovery of the issue’s source. BSP can also amplify natural resources and resilience. This approach can unpack deep traumas that are often linked to the core of conditions like depression, anxiety, blocks, or addictions.

When progress seems stagnant in your journey of healing or manifestation, brainspotting can dig deeper in a way that doesn’t retraumatize. Its role is akin to EMDR or Somatic Experiencing, yet distinctly its own. It empowers clients to navigate their subconscious terrain, starting with the issue they choose.

Differentiating Brainspotting, EMDR, Hypnosis, and SE

While Brainspotting, EMDR, SE, and hypnosis trigger similar brainwave states, they each specialize in catering to unique needs. Brainspotting, with its steady eye positions, offers greater freedom for clients to confront their traumas, making it a valuable tool for those needing a more active role in their therapy journey.

How Brainspotting Works

The process involves:

  1. Uncovering repressed traumas through guided brainspot exploration.
  2. Facilitating physical and mental healing by releasing unprocessed trauma.

Additional methods can complement your healing journey, including ongoing therapy sessions and other practices like the Law of Assumption and Neurolinguistic Programming (NLP).

A Glimpse into a Brainspotting Session

Sessions follow a talk therapy format. The therapist empowers the client to navigate their subconscious and guides them through sifting and healing within the specific brainspot. Sessions are client-led, with their vision focused on the challenging brainspot, enabling them to explore its depths as they see fit.

Duration of Treatment

The length of treatment can vary, ranging from a few sessions to more extensive engagement, depending on the severity of the mental trauma.

Embark on a journey of deep healing and self-discovery with Brainspotting – an avenue to unveil the power of consciousness and reclaim control over your mental well-being.

Skills Learned in Brainspotting

  • Overcoming fears of vulnerability
  • Overcoming tightness and pain in the body
  • Embracing change to thoughts and feelings
  • Becoming more self-aware
  • increasing self confidence
  • Familiarity with the power of emotional release, without the out-of-control feelings of “purging”
  • Becoming mindful of how you hold stress in your body, and how to instantly release it

Some thoughts on the Yoga Sutra’s | A Podcast

Some thoughts on the Yoga Sutra’s | A Podcast

Guide to Spiritual Enlightenment, Meditation and Self-Discipline

“Nowhere on earth has the impulse toward transcendence found more consistent and creative expression than on the Indian subcontinent.”

Georg Feuerstein

Patanjali is an early scholar in the science of understanding the mind, and his compilation of the Yoga Sutras is considered a foundational text in the philosophy of yoga (yogic studies, not to be confused with the modern yoga asanas) . The Yoga Sutras provide insights into the nature of consciousness, mental processes, and the path to achieving mastery over the mind.

While the term “neuroscience” is indeed a modern English word, it is applicable to Patanjali’s work. The principles outlined in the Yoga Sutras share conceptual similarities with certain aspects of contemporary neuroscience in the context of understanding the mind, its functioning, and the practices that lead to self-realization.
